Definitely we don't need a plot! and for me, i'm not so keen on plots. lets think further.

Yea, with the maps and the immigration, people moving and encountering each other, and this themes that Tim presented would vary from spot to spot. This is a suggestion to the form of the show, how it would flow. Or its supposed to have a plot?

Hi Maiia
If we could link this to some of the themes we are thinking about for the final work that would be great.. some 'rooms' where people are in front of a projection o f birds taking off lakes.. (bit cheesy- but you may get the idea!)..

I got an idea of the show "Human exhibition", that the show would be in a form of a market place presenting encounterings and action. The audience would mingle through and inside it. For example a wide space (like a citysquare) divided into smaller parts that makes like a map and the performers and audience would be moving through spaces and actions in them. There could be areas of stilness/movement, sound/silence and transition/permanence. Also by switching "countries in a map" would allow everybody to do everything. How does this sound??

Hi everyone!
I will start meeting our partner organizations in Turku today and present your ideas to them. I will get back to you as soon as I get their reactions to your ideas: Today I'll meet people from Tall Ships Race and old people's home Ruusukortteli, on wed I'll meet the curator of Ars Nova, where our final show will be presented. So keep the interesting ideas coming, I'm thrilled by everything so far!

We are still looking at creating a single show that will be shown in its first form at the end of week one, and in its 2nd form in the final show. When you arrive in Turku, you need to be thinking in terms of this whole show. What this show is, and how it works is still very much open. There are many ideas emerging now but as you think further, make connections to other people ideas and always think in terms of this whole event. The broad movements of this show are.
There should be a sense in which this show brings together all our activities in a meaningful and engaging way. We will thrash this out in the first couple of days. I'm imagining:

movement and stillness
sound and silence
transition and permanence

hi bev, yes that's a good idea....(sad not to have been able to meet up - there just doesn't seem to be such a thing as a spare evening, ever..looking forward to seeing you in finland, and hope all's well with you x)

I've been thinking and got an idea - i was thinking it might be interesting to use old maps to make things- birds, kites, paper aeroplanes maybe, with the migrant groups? could be interesting if we can ask people to bring snap shots from their home or the journey / arrival in finland, or a photo of something special they brought with them, and project these images behind (if there's a way of making this possible?), also a working with Beatrix to make a dance piece that works with it and responds to it, with a sound piece of people talking about their journeys in their own languages, maybe a piece of music from their home - all together at the same time - - - -what do you think? hope that makes some sense - would be great to work with Bev, Beatrix, Jorge etc etc ? and any interested emerging artists....?
